Open Source at NAB Show 2025

We are excited to participate at this year’s NAB Show in Las Vegas, marking the first time the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF) has had a presence at the show! Join us for a panel discussion on April 7 at 10:00 am featuring executives from Netflix, AWS, Foundry, and Sohonet as they discuss how developing and using open source software creates value for both companies and engineers.

Here are the details:

ASWF: Open Source for Content Creation: Engineering for the Greater Good

April 7, 2025 at 10:00 – 11:00am, LVCC West Hall, room W213-215

Moderated by Academy Software Foundation Executive Director David Morin, this panel will feature Christy Anzelmo (Chief Product Officer, Foundry), Felix Duchesneau (Director of Rendering, AWS), Eric Reinecke (Senior Software Engineer, Netflix), and Erik Strauss (Chief Product Officer, Sohonet), discussing real-world lessons from their experiences developing open source projects, and the benefits of open source to the broader media industry.

Please note that this panel is only available to premium conference badge holders and above. We have a limited number of single session premium passes available for those interested in attending the ASWF panel. If you would like to request one, please send a note to pr@aswf.io

There are several additional opportunities at this year’s NAB Show to learn about the broader open source landscape in media and entertainment. Here are a few highlights:

SMPTE Presents: Filmmakers Talk About the Importance of Color Management and ACES

Join colorist Alastor Arnold (“Anora”) and others to discuss the use of ACES – the Academy Color Encoding System – on varying film projects

SMPTE: Open Track IO Panel

Join Jim Helman (CTO, MovieLabs), David Stump (ASC Motion Imaging Technology Council), James Uren (Mo-Sys Engineering), and others to learn about Open Track IO, an open source solution for unified tracking data management for virtual production, XR, and AR workflows

We can’t wait to see you at NAB!
