Open Source Day is an event hosted by the Academy Software Foundation in conjunction with SIGGRAPH for developers and software engineers working on or using open source software for visual effects, animation, and content creation. The full day event is an opportunity to learn about the latest updates to open source projects, share best practices, and participate in broader cross-industry collaboration.
The inaugural event was held on July 30, 2019, and featured a full day of Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions related to open source projects used for visual effects, animation, and image creation, including the Academy Software Foundation, OpenVDB, OpenCue, OpenEXR, Rez, OpenTimelineIO, ACES, OpenColorIO, Open Shading Language, and MaterialX.
